Fire Brigade visit
Tue 31 Mar 2015Today we had an unplanned fire alarm.
There was a fault on the alarm system.
The fire brigade arrived to double check and make sure we could re-enter the building.
All the adults were very pleased with how sensible the children were, and how patient they were whilst waiting on the playground for the all-clear.
It was quite exciting to see the fire engine and firemen turn up!

Solar Eclipse
Fri 20 Mar 2015We are hoping to be able to experience the solar eclipse in the morning. It should happen between 9.25am and 9.30am (9.28am to be precise!).
Following all health and safety guidance, we aim to watch it as a reflection in pools of water. If you have a paddling pool we can borrow please bring it in nice and early so we can add the water in time!
Children will be given strict instructions not to look directly at the sky. It's too good an opportunity to miss, and it will be used as learning point - Mrs Wilson and the staff are really keen every child should experience the event. IT doesn't happen very often. We just hope it's not cloudy!
In the event of poor visibility, we will watch it online (but it won't be the same!).If your child has specific religious obligations regarding the event, please let us know.

Red Nose Day 2015
Fri 13 Mar 2015Over £200 raised!!!
It's fabulous to see so many children raising money for Red Nose Day / Comic Relief by dressing up and making their faces 'funny for money'. A huge thank you to everyone who donated for this and for the cake sale - we doubled the target set by our School Council, and raised £216.25!
Take a look at some of our great pictures below.
Mrs Wilson needed some help to join in the fun. She picked the names of two children to help with her make up. Thank you to Tia-Rose and Phoebe for your help!! -
Chinese New Year themed week
Fri 27 Feb 2015Last week saw celebrations across the world for Chinese New Year. This was obviously during our half term break, but we are using the event as a great learning opportunity for Haselworth.
The week was kick started with a lion dance and Tai Chi performance from a visiting company called Nama. They were in school for the rest of the day leading workshops with each class. You can visit their website at www.nama.co.uk .
Children and adults took part in a range of other activities throughout the week, including food tasting and craft sessions.
Parents and carers came to our assembly on Friday at 9am to see dragons the children have made - and maybe even a dragon dance!
We had a food tasting session on Friday afternoon with a great range of Chinese dishes to try. Thank you to staff for cooking up some real treats in our new kitchen, and to Asda Gosport Superstore for providing some of the food.
Families are again invited in at the end of the school day to see a gallery in the hall of what each class has produced during the week.
We have really enjoyed our week! -
Robin Hood Panto!

Thank You!
Fri 09 Jan 2015Thank you to everyone, families and staff, who donated money to The Joe Glover Trust.
We had a Christmas Jumper day when we had our school Christmas lunch and many people brought in a donation.
Staff also decided to donate to the charity instead of sending each other Christmas cards.
In total, we raised £94.27. Well done and thank you to all involved. -
Building works
Fri 12 Dec 2014We are having some quite substantial building work taking place over the next few weeks!
We are having all our old windows and doors replaced so we will be a bit warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer hopefully!
We are also having the modifications in the reception office completed, a new children's kitchen built where the current Sunshine's class cloakroom is; and a few other bits completed.
It will be very busy around school and there will be two compounds on the playground at some point.
Please bear with us and remind your children to avoid these compounds at the beginning and end of the school day.
We have been promised that the internal works will be completed before we return to school on Monday 5th January 2015 (all being well!). The window and door replacement programme should be finished by the end of January 2015.
