PDL and RSE

New Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) including Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education Curriculum for Parents’ Consultation.

As a school, we have reviewed the provision for Personal, Social, Health and Emotional (PSHE) education. From September 2020, the government have defined Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education as a compulsory feature of all primary school curriculums.

For Haselworth Primary School, relationships and health education, has always formed part of our PSHE curriculum, so this is nothing new. However, we feel it is important that when there are changes in our PSHE curriculum, we engage and inform parents of what these changes consist of and to this end we are consulting with parents. This will be characterised by information sharing, with opportunities to comment on policy and practice in relation to RSE and to learn more about the materials the school will use to deliver the RSE strand of PSHE.

For a number of years we have used ‘ Christopher Winter Scheme’, to cover the Sex Education strand of our curriculum. Now, the school will follow the PSHE Association recommended scheme of learning.

This consultation began with our new PSHE curriculum and draft PSHE policy.

These have been developed and discussed with the governors and staff.  School and are in line with the PSHE Association and government requirements.

Unfortunately, due to COVID- 19 we were unable to invite you into school for an open evening to discuss these documents. Therefore, we have made these available on the school website for parents to read and review.

Please follow the links below to view these documents and then complete the parents and carers questionnaire. This questionnaire will close on Friday 18th December 2020.

We look forward to hearing your comments and addressing any queries you wish to raise.
