  • STEM week

    Thu 24 Mar 2016
Children have worked really hard during Science week! We have looked at using STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths to investigate and solve real life problems. Children worked in small groups in class to design, build and test their ideas and use the Haselworth Learning Behaviours to evaluate and improve their work! It was lovely to see all children and adults working hard and enjoying the projects!

  • Basketball Tournament

Mon 21 Mar 2016 Mrs Ashman
What a great start to the week! A team of 9 children from Year 5 and 6 represented the school in a Basketball Tournament at Brune Park. The team played 4 games, winning 3 and losing 1. Haselworth came 2nd over all and will go through to the Gosport area finals in April. The whole team were a credit to the school, their skills and tactical awareness improved with each game and they played with determination, as well as showing true sportsmanship.
  • St Marys Gold Mark Award Trip

    Fri 18 Mar 2016

On March 17th five children representing Haselworth travelled to the home of Southampton Football, St Mary’s Stadium, to celebrate achieving the Gold Mark in PE. We were one of only 27 schools across Hampshire to achieve this last year.

There were a number of different activities. We toured the stadium, and were surprised at the difference between the home and away changing rooms; the children took part in a football coaching session (and made Mr McCormick proud of the skills on show); and we admired the trophy cabinet. There were several creative tasks, such as build a Southampton version of the Spinnaker Tower, design a new football kit (Oliver Dixon’s Haselworth-inspired design was one of the winners), and we used Sammy the Saint, Southampton’s football mascot, to help us win the ‘creative photo and tweet’ prize. We even took part in a race to put a goal together!

As usual, the positive attitude and good manners of our children were very much on show. An enjoyable day all round.
