  • Speaker's School Council Award

    Mon 11 Sep 2017

The Young Governors at Haselworth have been very busy working in partnership with FareShare to provide food for our Breakfast Club and ingredients for children to use in cookery lessons. They were lucky enough to visit the FareShare distribution centre in Southampton to find out more about the work of this fantastic charity, had an article published in the local press and were interviewed on Radio Solent by Julian Clegg. They have been very busy!

The YGs then set to work  and made a presentation to enter our school into the Speaker's School Council Award 2017. The Speaker’s School Council Awards is a national awards scheme designed to celebrate the achievements of school councils, particularly where they have made a difference to a school, a local community or the environment.

The school has been awarded a digital badge to be used on school letters and logos to make everyone aware of all the good work the school has done with FareShare and the whole school community.

Today we held an emotional farewell assembly for Mrs Presswell, who is retiring from us after 24 years of service.   Lots of her previous colleagues came to say goodbye, and this was followed by a tea party.  She has promised that she will stay in touch and we hope that she enjoys her retirement.  We would like to say thank you for everything she has done for us.
  • Goodbye Year 6

    Tue 25 Jul 2017

It was with a tear in our eye that we say good bye to year 6 today.  They have been an inspirational year group and we can't wait to see what success is in front of them.  Lots of parents attended the leavers' assembly.  Good bye and good luck year 6. You have all been a pleasure to know.

  • Year 3 enjoy Outdoor Education in the rain!

    Wed 12 Jul 2017

Year 3 showed that the weather cannot hold them back. Whether kayaking in the strong tide, or challenging themselves to jump off the giant paddleboard, Year 3 were up for it! Presumably it wasn't always sunny when Robin Hood took aim in Sherwood Forest, and again, our intrepid learners learnt to use a bow and arrow in the drizzle. It was a pleasure to see the enthusiasm of these young people, and they're very positive attitude to every challenge.

Thanks to the many parents, family and supporters who turned out, making this a special day for the children.

  • Kingfisher class@Oarsome Chance

    Thu 29 Jun 2017

On Wednesday Kingfisher class were offered the opportunity to work with OARSOME CHANCE, a unique charity aiming to: develop young lives for the benefit of their health and social outcomes; promote and encourage core values that will improve health, education, combat obesity, enhance personal development and esteem.

The children started with a dry rowing team challenge and then went out onto the water in the creek behind St. Vincent's College for some real rowing races.

Once again Kingfishers behaviour was impeccable, showing the "Haselworth Way" at all times. They all had a super time and the quote of the day must come from Jayden, who shouted at the top of his voice, " Row like a viking!"
