Drones and robots visit Haselworth
Mon 15 May 2017The BAE Systems STEM Roadshow came to visit Haselworth on Monday 15th March. This was sponsored by BAE Systems, the Royal Navy and the Royal Airforce. The show explored the world of drones, the technology behind them and the multifarious uses that they are currently put to and the possible uses for the future. The second part of the show focused on computing and control systems that all modern technology is built around. The final part of the show featured a very special robot. The children had a fantastic time watching a drone fly around the hall and looking at real time images being relayed onto a big screen. Some of the lucky ones even got to fly the drone themselves. Working out computer coding and the binary system was another activity the children took part in as well as pitching their wits against a tai-chi dancing robot! -

The whole Haselworth community wish both Mrs and Mr Williams a long and happy retirement. The children had a jolly spiffing time, talked politely about the weather and held their little fingers in the air when drinking tea from floral teacups. -

Service Family Friendship Hut
Fri 24 Mar 2017We were very proud to open our new Friendship Hut today. This has been very kindly donated by the Service Families through the funding they receive. They decided that they would like to create a space where children could go when they are new to the school. Children from service families often move from school to school and so they understand how difficult it is to sometimes meet new friends. The children love it and we know it will be used by everybody. Watch out for Mrs Steele in there with a cup of tea when she needs some peace!

Red Nose Day
Fri 24 Mar 2017What an amazing day we have had, with such creativity in scooter design. The morning started with a visit from St.Vincent's College. The children had to run to a disco and then take part in a group dance. Then we set up for the afternoon. Half of the school took part in a super dooper scooter competition, which everybody enjoyed watching. Lots of adults came to support and it was great to see so many children really getting very artistic.
The winners of the competition were Oscar, Harvey and Stephanie. Well done for such imaginative designs.
The afternoon ended with Red Nose Day cakes and cocktails. We're still counting the money we raised, so we'll let you know how much later today. Thank you to everybody who donated for this worthwhile charity.
