A polar explorer visits Kingfisher class
Kingfisher class had a visit from Polar explorer, Dr Dan Roiz De Sar, last week to kick start their topic on Antarctica. Dan has climbed Mount Everest and has trekked to both the North Pole and South Pole. In 2013 he helped to raise over £20million for wounded servicemen and women, when he trekked to the South Pole with Prince Harry and 12 wounded warriors from around the globe. He shared tales of his adventures with the class and even brought in a bottle of whiskey and a hat that had been taken on Shackleton's journey to the South Pole in 1916. The children listened intently, asked lots of questions and had fun trying on some of Dan's expedition clothing.
